JOSH DION: A world-traveled singer-songwriter known for his dynamic drumming, Josh Dion bring an energy and charisma to the stage, taking classic jazz styling and adding a contemporary rock twist. Dion has had years of experience jamming in New York and internationally as a both a solo artist and with a full band, packing venues like The Mercury Lounge, The Blue Note, Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End. Smooth sounds, impeccable timing, and captivating rhythms encompass just a few of the strengths Dion brings to the stage, who in addition to playing with Chuck Loeb in Japan has also been featured at the Monterey International Festival and the WOMAD Festival in Spain. His natural chemistry and diverse musical talent captivates audiences and gets people moving, making this returning Rebel Spirit artist the perfect addition to a memorable and enjoyable evening of live music.

ROBBIE GIL: Listen to one song in Robbie Gil’s powerhouse set and you are sure to be hooked on this songwriter’s gut-wrenching lyrics and soulful voice. A regular at established New York venues such as The Living Room, The Bitter End, and Rockwood Music Hall, Robbie recently released his sophomore album Lightening in a Bottle, a hopeful follow up to his first record Stumble Inn. Featuring songs like “Taking Too Long” and the crowd favorite “How’s Colorado,” Robbie reaches new melodic peaks and valleys and examines some of life’s most pertinent lessons. Likened to the great Ray LaMontagne in vocal quality and deliverance, Robbie Gil brings energy to the stage that speaks to fans in the most raw and honest of all senses, showing the beauty in truth, honesty, and vulnerability.

SARAH TRACEY: Influenced by great female artists like Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday, Sarah Tracey is quickly climbing as a name to know in the New York music scene. Poetic and insightful in her songwriting, Tracey is inspired by film noir and the idea of femme fatale, laced with beautiful melodies and a playful spirit. Her latest record, Cards on the Table, features six tracks and was produced by Eshy Gazit and Patrick Ermlich, Rebel Spirit’s newest collaborators at Modern Vintage Records. Featured as a “breakout” artist on AOL Music, Sarah has also played NYC venues such as Joe’s Pub and Rockwood Music Hall. We are thrilled to have her join the outstanding collection of artists in the Rebel Spirit series.

SCOTT MATTHEW: Since releasing his latest album, Elsewhere, in 2009 on the San Remo label via Island Records, Scott Matthew’s career has taken off to new heights. The Wolverhampton, England native has been likened to great artists such as Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, and John Martyn, and credits diverse influences and instrumentation with helping to create such a strong follow up to his first album Passing Stranger. Eclectic and adventurous in it’s undertaking, Elsewhere features the lead single “Fractured” and a duet with Robert Plant. Hi spontaneity in recording and honest spirit is enthralling, making Scott’s Rebel Spirit debut and Rockwood residency sure to thrill New York audiences throughout the month of February.
